2016 E. Guigal Côtes du Rhône Red Wine – France –

Nose: Ripe red berries with subtle baking spice. 

Palate: Ripened blackberry and cherry cola leads on the palate, balance with the element of crushed white pepper. This wine has a silky mouthfeel with smooth tannins and long finish. There is an overall balance between the ripeness of the fruit and tannins. 

Notes:
Blend of 50% Syrah, 40% Grenacha, and 10% Mourvèdre.
Syrah heavy base leads to greater aromatics and structure in comparison to other GSM blends.
Made by an 80 grower collection the fruits are grown on several different soil types.
Average age of vines is 35 years.
Aged for 1 ½ years in oak.
